Mission

Under the direction of Dr. Elena Foster, the Center for Translational Data Science at UPIBI supports the advancement of research that bridges computational methods and real-world health applications. The center’s mission is to foster collaboration across scientific disciplines and develop systems that help turn complex datasets into actionable insights for health improvement.

Description

Modern health research involves combining data from many domains to inform diagnosis, treatment, and discovery. The Center for Translational Data Science plays a critical role in enabling this process by:

1. Creating digital infrastructure for linking and analyzing diverse research and clinical data
2. Encouraging cross-sector partnerships between researchers, clinicians, and informatics professionals
3. Supporting workforce development through training in data integration, analytics, and translational strategy
4. Providing leadership to advance applied data science for population and precision health research

The center also works to promote equitable access to data resources and to strengthen collaboration across institutions and research domains.
